Where are all the toy stores? KB, Children's Palace, Kiddie City? I even have a hard time finding a Toys R us. I can find a store for paintballing, guns, candy, clothes, shoes, cigars, electronics, bikes, scuba gear, boating, but what all children need, and parents, (to get kids out of their hair), a toy store.
Are children no longer playing with toys or am I so far out of the loop that I don't know what I am talking about? Like video killed the radio star (and I am dating myself) did online gaming and game consoles kill and uterly destroy toys and outside for that matter. When was the last time you saw someone play hopscotch, ride a bike, marlbes, jax, four-square, or jump rope. And when did the hoola hoop become exercise equipment?!
Am I getting old or have I become Rip Vanwinkle and the world has continued without me, but I do know how to work a computer!

Yes you are old and yes you are like Rip Van Winkle. Face it, you and I are old school. Perhaps the US wouldn't have to deal with childhood obesity if there were more toys and outside play. Don't get me wrong, I like video games and they have their place, but there's nothing like a good soccer match or a bike ride outside. Well, that's just my two cents.
ReplyDeleteActually i totally agree with you because the truth is ,that the main reason for obesity is because of technology. so many parents are not paying attention to what they are exposing their children to(as in electronics of course). so therefore i beleive we should have aresurection of the toy store.
